The three hour lecture for students of Dr. Ljupka Katana an Adjunct Professor in International Relations at Webster University Tashkent by Dr. Terzic covered in a broad sweep the topics on “Energy, Electricity and Climate Change.”
On Energy the sources of energy: coal, petroleum, natural gas, renewables and nuclear were presented. Resource locations, development and production, geographic supply basins, pricing, US and global markets were explained.
The Electricity section included explanations of concepts of power and energy, the technologies for thermal, combined cycle, hydroelectric, wind, solar and nuclear power were also introduced. Basics concepts in electric utility regulation were presented as in the estimation of annual revenue requirement and cost-of-service ratemaking. Principles of governance in electric utility regulation were explained. Relative greenhouse gas emissions were presented for the various electric production methods.
The Climate Change section included explanations of anthropomorphic climate change factors, the six assessments reports of the IPCC and a discussion of the decisions reached at COP 27 with a presentation of contentious issues in international GHG emissions negotiations.
